When I first started running I used to love to plug my iPod in and let the music completely distract me from what I was doing. I welcomed the distraction, and I'm even convinced that I needed the distraction. I didn't want or need to think so much about my legs or my breathing or how tired I felt.
But it's been a really long time since I ran with music. And I don't miss it one bit. I love running without my iPod and just letting myself focus on my running. I welcome the relief from distractions. Just me (and God) out on a run with my thoughts and prayers to keep me company.
