Not Crazy, Just Hardcore :)

This morning Mathis and I woke up at 5:45am for our long run.  Let me just tell you that I was NOT feeling it this morning.  I didn't want to get out of bed, and I certainly didn't want to go outside in the sub-freezing temps.  I told Mathis that we were crazy for waking up this early to run.  Later on I realized that we're not crazy, but just hardcore for running so early in the cold. :)

Mathis had to be at work this morning by 11, and that's the real reason we ran so early.  Fortunately we had planned ahead, and we had everything laid out last night ready to go this morning.  So I reluctantly got ready, and we headed out the door.

Much like on Sunday, we ran our first miles in pitch black darkness.  I actually really enjoy this... I told Mathis that when you run so early and when you run in the dark you almost don't realize what you're doing!  Haha!  It's like you are "sleep running"!  We saw the most beautiful sunset at mile 4, and I instantly regretted the fact that I didn't have my phone with me.  There were many other beautiful views that I would have loved to taken a picture of this morning.  The leaves are really beautiful right now, and I even saw a rabbit and some deer on this morning's run.

I felt pretty good overall this morning.  It was COLD, but I had some good stuff on.  My running tights are a little looser this year than last, so that was a fun surprise this morning when I put them on.  I took a GU at Mile 9.  Miles 11 and 12 were T-O-U-G-H, but I did it.  My time was slow, but I don't care about time.  I may not be fast, but I certainly am dedicated! :)

Mathis ran 15 miles, and it was tough for him but he did great.  That's his farthest run yet!  Although it's not easy waking up so early, I think we both really enjoy having our long run out of the way.  Alright, I'm off to eat a big breakfast and take a nap.

Happy Halloween weekend!!!!!

  1. That's awesome! I ran 7 miles this morning in 50 degrees and I thought that was tough! I know it's hard to get up so early but it's a really good feeling when you've got your run out of the way so you can enjoy the rest of the weekend :)
