Windy Fail

Well, I headed out for a quick two miles this afternoon, but the WIND was absolutely out of control.  It wasn't just the fact that it was 34 degrees -- I can handle the cold, but the wind was crazy!!  We've been under a wind warning the past few days, and I'm hoping it goes away soon!

I only made it once around the loop (.75 miles), before I realized my face was numb from the cold wind.  The next time I run will be at the 5K on Saturday.  I'm VERY excited about running a race, even if it's a small one!  My goals are to enjoy myself and have fun.  As far as a time goal, I'm thinking I'd like to run the race in 33 minutes.  I know this doesn't seem like much of a goal for some, but I'm just getting started and still running pretty slow miles.  33 was Mathis' Varsity Football number in high school, and it's been my lucky number since.  As far as I can tell, I think I've been running close to a 12 minute mile pace, so this would be a little faster than that.

Speaking of being happy with your own timing and not comparing yourself to other runners, I read this very encouraging post from The Happy Runner today.  It really reminded me to step back and run my own race in my own way! :)
